Q&A: I need some simple Finger-food recipes for a reception for 150 people?

Question by Nee-Nee: I need some simple Finger-food recipes for a reception for 150 people?
I am doing a reception for my son who recently got married. It is a floating reception from 3PM - until... I need some good but simple recipes that will serve about 150 people and that will stay good & fresh for several hours. Also I need to keep the cost down & the amount of time & work down.
Sorry - I should have put that there is a time limit as far as the food is concerned. We plan on serving the appetizers from 3 until around 6, after that just some munchies, such as chips, veggies, dips, crackers, cheese, etc.
Thanks for the ideas for far.

Mini-Quiches

Ingredients:
8 oz Cottage cheese-small curd
1/4 c Sour cream
4 oz Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 c Bisquick (I used RecipEase)
1/4 c Melted butter
3 Eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients with
Electric mixer. Grease mini-muffin tins or use Teflon ones.
Fill 3/4 full. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until brown.
Hints: Add onion, bacon, mushrooms, etc. May be frozen.
Reheat at 300 degrees or microwave for 3 minutes on high.
Note: These are great! Be sure to add cooked bacon and
Some diced onion. This recipe only makes about
1 1/2 Dozen. You can double, quad bump this recipe by X10 and you're covered, get help though

Baby Food Maker-3 Tips For Making Baby Food

Baby Food Maker-3 Tips For Making Baby Food

We live in trying times these days and things seem to be getting harder and harder. This holds true for the foods that we eat and the foods that your baby eats. There is just to much chemically laden junk out there. There is even legislation pending to allow food companies to not disclose to the public whether or not what you buy is farmed raised, hybridized or genetically altered in some way. So, you want to do your best to make sure that your baby eats right and grows up eating right and eating healthy.

So you have thought about not buying store bought baby foods anymore and you want to make baby food at home for your baby. This is a good thing and it is not hard to do and the benefits are just enormous to your childs well being. So how do you make baby food at home? The old way was to just cook your food or boil it and then mash it up and feed it to your baby. Today, you can by a baby food maker that is an all in one unit and your will save lots of time from doing things the old fashioned way. In this article we will look at some tips for making baby food at home for your child.

Now that you have decided to make baby food and if you are new at making baby food here are a some do's and don'ts to keep in mind. By the way this was all new to me to when I had my baby so don't worry, you are not alone. Let's take a look at some of those tips:

1. The first year of your baby's life he or she will be feed predominantly your breast milk or some type of formula. These formulas come in many varieties from dairy based to soy based if your baby is lactose intolerant. Your little one will not be eating solids. By the time the second year comes around it is going to be solid food time so it's time to gear up and break out that baby food maker.

2. Obtain the freshest fruits and vegetables that you can get to use in your baby food maker. If you have a farmersmarket in your area thats great! If not a health food stores produce will do. If you end up needing to use frozen fresh fruits and veggies that is fine to. Just remember one thing when it comes to using the frozen fresh stuff. Do not refreeze baby food made from fresh frozen fruits and veggies once they have been cooked. Remember this as well: DON'T EVER USE CANNED VEGGIES! You don't need to be loading your baby up with all that salt. You can get away using canned fruits if you have to, just make sure you read the label to make sure the fruit is packed in water or natural juices and no excess sugars, syrups or preservatives are added.

3. Cleanliness is next to healthiness. No matter what you do make sure that your hands, the utensils that you use, the baby food maker and your counter tops and any and all food storage containers are clean. practice safe cooking and cleaning techniques.

If you are looking for a way to feed healthy baby food to your child then the answer is to have your own baby food maker and have total control over what goes into each meal for your child.  The best baby food is the food you make for your child. www.parentearth.com Are you a vegetarian? Are you planning to raise your baby as a vegetarian too? Sometimes parents are pummeled with criticism and questions like "Are you sure that's a good idea?" or "How will the baby get enough protein?" and "Have you checked with your doctor?" Here are some clear answers from the noted baby book author and pediatrician, Dr. Bob Sears. Watch the video yourself and share it with confused in-laws, babysitters, and friends to calm nerves and deflect any concern. This video shows an actual check-up -- the patient is a healthy and adorable vegetarian baby, accompanied by his mom. See more videos on food for families, find recipes, and have fun at http Dr. Bob Sear's advice: • It can be very healthy to raise a vegetarian baby • Some vegetarian babies don't get enough B12, so once your baby reaches one year of age, Dr. Sears recommends a multi-vitamin with B12 • It is easy to get vegetable proteins into a child's diet -- lentils, beans, yogurt, cheese, and egg yolks. After baby is one year old nut butters are another good choice (**but wait til after age two to introduce peanut butter**) • There is some controversy over soy -- right now Dr. Sears recommends that parents limit soy to one serving per day • Listen to your baby and give them food when they seem interested • Try to feed your baby organic whenever you can This video was made by Parent Earth with sponsorship from Happy Baby www.happybabyfood.com and Stonyfield Farms stonyfieldfarms ...

Cooking Italian Food Recipes

Cooking Italian Food Recipes

A couple of centuries from now, this will be referred to as the Golden Age of the Foodie, without a doubt. Never before have so many cuisines, ingredients and cooking methods been so readily available to so many people. Even the most exotic ingredients can be found, the most obscure of kitchen gadgets located. If you're into cooking Italian you'll find a wealth of food recipes available.

Where is this treasure trove? If you're reading this, you're standing knee-deep in it right now. It's the Internet.

With the explosion in Internet content, a huge amount of information has become available free of charge to anyone interested in cooking with different food recipes. With the click of a mouse, you can open huge recipe collections, read cooking tips and even see video demonstrations of basic cooking procedures, if your computer is beefy enough to handle such things.

When it comes to food, the options are even more limitless. In years past, if a food maker wanted to get his product to the public, he had basically two options. He could hit the farmer's markets, running a booth and selling directly to the public on a small scale, or he could go through the torturous process of getting his products into grocery stores. This can be a very time-consuming and frustrating process, and once the products are in they require constant attention to ensure they are properly shelved, labeled and stocked.

Now, with the Internet, small food producers can sell their products directly to the public. Some of them have even banded together to form the electronic equivalent of a farmer's market, with many producers under one Web site's banner.

Cooking Italian food recipes, the growth has been just as explosive. There are vast databases of recipes with special sections devoted to Italy, and even sites devoted solely to the cuisine of the country.

Whether you're into cooking Italian food recipes or all of the above, your computer can bring you an almost endless menu of options.

Do You to Find Ethnic Food Recipes?

Do You to Find Ethnic Food Recipes?

Most home cooks at some time or another find themselves getting interested in ethnic cuisine. The impetus might come from their heritage … maybe grandma was a German immigrant or grandpa came from Vietnam. Or it could just be simple cook's curiosity. All of us get tired of cooking the same old recipes over and over, and decide to move beyond, frequently into ethnic food recipes.

However, and this is especially important if you don't already know anything about the particular cuisine you're after, it can be hard to figure out if the recipes you're cooking are authentic, for more details visit to www.chicken-wing-cookbook.com or are even worth trying. You might pick an Asian recipe that sends you out hunting exotic ingredients for three days only to find that either the recipe was written poorly or the flavor is something you just can't stomach.

Unless you want to sink a lot of money into cookbooks, your best source of recipe information is going to be the Internet. However, searching for Internet recipes can be fraught with peril. How do you know this recipe will work? The bulk of the work involved in crock pot cooking takes place early in the day when you are refreshed rather than at the end of a hectic work or play day. Do you have any clue what it tastes like? Do you maybe have a picture of what the finished dish should look like?

This is where sites that allow user reviews of recipes are invaluable. We foodies are a verbose bunch, forever ready to share good recipes and tips and warn others away from the bad ones. On sites such as Allrecipes or Cooks.com, you'll find ethnic food recipes with hundreds of reviews from users. Often, these reviews will include possible ingredient substitutions, problems inherent in the preparation and possible solutions and all sorts of other great information. It's very similar to having a kitchen full of cooks ready to teach and advise you at all times. All of us obtain weary of cooking the similar aged recipes in excess of and over, for more details visit to www.chef-123.com  and make a decision to go further than, often keen on ethnic food recipes. Encourage your children to try new things rather than cooking the same few meals over and over again that you know they are likely to eat.

While you might not want to trust just one or two reviews, you can feel fairly safe when you see certain ethnic food recipes have been cooked successfully by dozens of people. Pick the recipe, read the comments and forge ahead!
